Today I had few things to do in town so I took a nice walk, the beautiful day was very inviting this morning so I decided to take a late breakfast and enjoy this beauty. Punch Doble Corona 2001, It has gone in my pocket for 4 days waiting for the right moment, so the wrapper has been damaged a little.
Still a great cigar which starts loosing the tastes it has had last past years, thankfully only 7 left which will be 'purified in a sacred rite' as soon as possible.
Enjoyed a Reyes while watch the game this afternoon.... A complete different Experience in taste from the one I had 6 weeks ago..that one was very bitter and harsh..just not nice....I still dont understand how the tobacco would have changed that drastically in such a short time as the box it came in was in a humidor too...I'm guessing the different Cigars in my humi must have blended in with it..
I have to say it was a really nice flavoursome short mild smoke..I got lots of coco creamy flavours. I really want try the big brother now
am away from my notes so cant remember what exactly this is other than a Punch with c10 years age on it sourced by RobustoClubHavana . Will add in the detail later...
Also a new little cutter from my recent birthday! I'm useless with recall today, but someone post with one regularly in their pictures on here and its been long admired by me!!!
This smoke was a beaut and had what was unmistakeably plume on the wrapper - crystaline white traces. I am touch cynical about plume but this was the only time I have seen something on a cigar that actually matched the descriptions exactly. A little tight at first, the tobacco under the cap seemed to have become too dry at some point in its lifetime, however a quick tidy up with the punch and it was producing a conservative amount of smoke. As the stick warmed up it got softer, springier and the draw opened a little.
Its band was loose given it had shrunken over the years. It produced a really gentle and mellow smoke in a steady light flow, which added a good bit of grip in the middle section. The last quarter gave a step up in the volume of smoke and with that came a richer rounder profile, where it had been subtle, gentle and steady going to that point. the smoke didnt massively alter in flavour notes, but as there was just more of it, the tasted upped to a richer profile. All the way through it there was a trail of sweetness within the smoke - really quite pleasant as it offered a counterpoint to what was a stick with pretty savoury selection of flavours throughout.
i look forward to trying another of these on a warmer day, sat in the sun with a decent glass of something!
thanks RobustoClubHavana a very decent smoke indeed!
"Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)
Nice cigars, and great pictures, how do you insert them at that good size?
Next smoke of the day while looking for a house to rent, so I have time to get it ready before family arrives.
A very nice Ramon Allones 2010 La casa del habano.
