Had a disappointing NC today Ortega Serie D no 8

I've had it in the past and loved it...just didn't have the flavours ive experienced before...was creamy and nutty but no coco or spice..

And the wrapper fella apart in the final 3rd

Such a Pitty really loved the first one I smoked

could be a few things causing that wrapper to peel. could be construction issues. could be humidity issues. if your cigar is way over humidified then it could be an issue. if it is properly humidified and the air where you are smoking has very high humidity that will cause issues
could even be cutting too much of the cap off as well.

Humidity is fine..the humi normally reads between 67 69 which I'm happy with. I'm using the 69 boveda....the wrapper did look a bit loose before I cut the cap..it maybe be the swing in temperature could have caused the wrapper get a bit loose. During the day with the CH on its the temp is between 17-19 but at night I'm sure it's dropping to 10-11 might need to find a warmer spot.

Had another Monte half corona, yuck! Had 3 out of the same box, not good! Bitter by the 1st centimetre, burns terribly and tasted nasty!

Will have to leave these alone and hope they age... Rather fresh March 2015

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Had a Monte no.4 lunch time which was badly plugged so binned after half.
Last night had a Party D4 which was lovely. Nubbed the hell out of it.

I generally try and smoke more aged stock. Even if a cigar from a box 2014/15 smokes well fresh I'll leave them alone they're only going to improve

I had one Monte Media Corona from a 15 box and while it had rough edges I'd say they will be one of the monte greats despite their size. I'd like to have seen them a little thinner and longer but they're good and going to be great IMO.

Based on that diagnosis doctor Tom I will leave mine to hibernate

Try dry boxing one for about three/four days and see if that makes a difference Nick.
