Hello all, the sun's out after some horrible wether. So I'm having a pleasant cigar outside with a coffee.

The new cutter/punch is excellent, took the cap off clean revealing a great view of the leaves beneath

& the post mans been and delivered my Amazon order

It was malty then turned fresh/young on 2nd half. Milder than I remember the D4 being, not had one since spring though.

Had a stubby La Invicta Honduran 58 in my humidor for a while now and decided to use a break between rain showers to give it a whirl.

Sadly, I wish I hadn't bothered. Construction was dreadful and the wrapper tried to unravel after cutting despite me being rather conservative with the cutter. It was obvious that there was a consistency problem as well with some sections being very soft and others rock hard. I discovered that this was due to a stalk which ran almost the entire length of the cigar.
Flavour wise it was also rather disappointing. Very light draw, although that's partly a construction thing, and super sweet flavour - reminded me more of gummy bears than anything else. No real savoury flavours but the sweetness was compounded by a general bitter flavour. All in all, very disappointing. So much so in fact, I gave up half way through.

Here's the offending stalk once removed from the cigar:

You live and learn - as VTG would say, NCs are a minefield and at least it wasn't anything expensive!
Won't be buying any more La Invicta any time soon though!

Starting off the evening with a SLR Serie A - bit of a disappointment, didn't find the sweetness I was hoping for.

Very nice choice of brandy. Good to see Armagnac getting some love.

Enjoyed a Drew Estate Liga Privada Undercrown Corona. This was a massively new experience for me - the construction was perfect, solid, tight and just completely different to any cigar I've smoked before.

It started off a with a nice easy draw, then 1/4 way through really beefed up the nicotine, yet stayed fairly mellow flavour wise - hints of coffee and chocolate, I fact the nicotine hit probably due partly to me enjoying it so much I started puffing away over enthusiastically.

This stick gave off tons of lovely white smoke that lingered around our outdoor table and the ash stayed put until almost the half way point. The last third really delivered a most wonderfully mellow, caramel smoke that I had to force myself to leave in the ashtray or I would have burnt my lips on the nub. I appear to have answered my own question on where I go after the AF Short Story [emoji106]🏼[emoji122]
