The long journey back to work. After last Wednesday's disaster coming through Heathrow, already on Sunday afternoon it was time to return again. Just time at Brussels airport for my very last Aug 05 RASCC for a mini Father's day celebration, with a grande Americano, with extra expresso shot. The last of a box is always a bitter sweet moment, as of course is not being with your children on Father's Day. At least it was memorable enough smoke to save the day! Monday & I was locked in an classroom all day, studying Asbestos & how to take samples; thought someone might find the idea of me all suited & booted amusing. So afterwards arriving at Wigan's; to wind down I pulled out a Hoyo DC from the 80's, one of my three that I won at a recent auction. This cigar looked old, the wrapper was the most heavily stained Hoyo I have ever seen by a long shot & the wrapper still had a sheen on it. I bid for these because I have fallen out of love with modern production of these, they are just too mild for my taste & yet as my first DC, I had always enjoyed them. Had the blend changed &/or my taste? Well I can assure you first these were genuine Hoyo's, secondly these had that old fashioned flav that I remembered, The ash was white as snow & held together longer than a snowman in January. The flav was noticeable straight away & continued to improve during the first third. The second third was fairly consistent but the flav become stronger a little more complex in the final third. I finally put it down at the band. An excellent Havana & I will be holding on to the other pair for suitable occasion. Many thanks to Wigan for kind his hospitality as always & good to see the Mighty Red as he dropped by too.

Clive Special, a Jamaican NC from the 60's. An ugly stick with a surprising strength of flav.
