Went to meet a fellow BOTL for a coffee this afternoon. Wasn't in the mood for a big smoke so I took the smallest cigar in my tup, an Alec Bradley Nica Puro Maduro. Turned out that it was an extremely slow burner and one of the fullest cigars I've ever had. Great little stick. One of the strongest ashes I've ever had, lasted all the way to the band before it fell.

Inspired by the advice on my cup I decided to try a RyJ Belvederes from 2006 that Butters sent me last year. I even tried the three match method to light it and I did notice a lack of that pepperiness that you tend to get just after ignition. As for the cigar, perfect draw and burn but an unpleasant bitter almond taste throughout unfortunately.

HUHC for me today. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience too.

The burn was not exactly even, but that might well be to do with my still to be developed lighting skills.
Not much was going on in the first third, but it was still very pleasant.

The stick came to life a lot more in the middle third. I was definitely sensing some sweetness but I'm afraid I could not pick out
exactly what it was that I was tasting. Hopefully my palette will improve with time and I will be able to identify the individual flavours.

The final third had much more of the same, and I think this is where I started to experience that much spoken about creamy smoke.

As It got towards the end, I started feeling a little heat and the wrapper started to loosen somewhat, but overall I enjoyed the smoke.

I would not say I got a big wow factor from the stick, but overall, a success for me.

After talking to SimonG a lot over the previous few weeks I got myself a sweet liquor that he recommended, and I must raise my glass
to him because I found it to be a lovely drink to pair with a smoke. Cheers Simon. I am going to be drinking Licor Beirao a lot more.

                      Cheers for the recommendation Si.
I will remember that when I come to smoke the Behike.

Had the CAO La Traviata I got in the pass. The cat had decided to see if it was a toy and had split the wrapper a little so I tried a dab of honey and it worked like a charm! Beefy stick, full of flavour, no photos as it was pitch black (just finished it) but thoroughly enjoyable.
