I started out with an Ashton VSG which was pleasant, very mild with biscuity flavours but it wouldn't burn and it wasn't good enough to deploy the new tool so ditched it and smoked a Petit Julieta instead.

Would a naff cigar your not fussed about make perfect practice fodder for the tool?

You're right but I just couldn't be bothered. I did go for the Las Vegas one by the way.

Feels like I'm on the home stretch now I'm at No.7 of the CA Top 25 for 2013. This is the Buenaventura BV500, substituting for the slightly longer, fatter BV560 which wasn't available. CA magazine assure me this "pressed cigar deliver(s) a medium-bodied flavor profile with a decidedly creamy texture to the smoke, notes of roasted peanuts and a flavorful finish smacking of graham crackers."

I'm not going to dwell on this one - not for any particularly bad reason. I just don't feel very wordy! It was a very fragrant cigar and a very loose draw. I think 'wind tunnel' is a term I've seen some on here use! Lighting was easy and it kicked off with a big peppery tang. I didn't find it creamy or nutty, but it was tasty - a mish-mash of lots of things. Loose draw and loose construction made it a very quick smoke for a stick which is over 5" long.

The Buenaventura is not really on a par with the other Top 25 cigars I've smoked more recently, so in comparison it's a bit disappointing.
