Haven't had a smoke for ages due to the depressing weather...so thought 'yeah give me something mild and easy going' so I reach for the Toscano's lol and my goodness did I enjoy it.

Would have posted this last night but my phone died. I probably wouldn't have bothered but I figured I've got this far with the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 for 2013, I should keep the saga going. So even though time has been short today, I've managed to find a minute to upload this before it becomes ancient history.

So, after a break, I'm returning to the Cigar Aficionado Top 25 for 2013. I'm now up to No.14, The La Flor Dominicana Oro Chisel. The team at CA say this is "considerably strong (would you expect anything less from a Chisel?) with spicy leather and tingly ginger on the palate, plus hearty hickory wood."

It's a bizarre package. The tube looks like it should contain cosmetics. The cigar tapers at the head. I've not seen anything like it before (like I have loads of experience!).

To begin with, it was really smooth, creamy and quite light. There was a hint of leather, but I also reckon I could taste oranges - not the inside but hints of the oil which comes off the skin. There was even a hint of chocolate too.

After the first third, it got more leathery, but still creamy (odd as that may sound). My whole mouth felt like it does after melting a square of chocolate on my tongue. In fact, the leathery taste continued to develop and intensify throughout, but it never got overwhelming or harsh. That creamy mouth feel stayed all the way through.

It was a really delicious smoke which had my dull taste buds straining to take it all in. In fact, it was more than that - it was outstanding. After a few false dawns in the Top 25 (to my taste anyway), this feels like it's where it should be. Looking forward to finding out what is judged to beat this.

I saw them on holiday, its a very attractive cigar in a gorgeous tubo but very expensive in the DR. The box of five is very nicely presented, if you go to the States you can get it for $51 in some cigar places but it was $122.50 in my hotel.
