At No 16 is the Asylum Premium 2012 Vintage 44x4, the smallest cigar in the Top 25 of 2013. This "short smoke is big on flavor and pleasantly tart, with savory leather, coffee and green apple notes."

A definite winner. This was my first Asylum of any description and if this is what they're like, I'll be trying more. Really smooth and just a little bit of sharpness right at the end as I blew out the smoke from each draw. The leathery notes were there, but nothing overpowering. Green apples? Well, I don't know if it's psychological, but I'm sure there was something like that too. The coffee was there too and got more pronounced towards the latter stages.

For my deadened taste buds, subtlety and complexity can be an issue, but it really doesn't matter when the overall experience is such a good one. I'll definitely be back for more.
