Started my Pike season on my private water today. Light but persistent rain all morning, might not have bothered but wanted to put in 3lb of sardines.Spoke to the half dozen English carp fishermen, who had been there a week. Only one of them had caughtva fish.
Undaunted & after just half an hr of casting lures & I saw a pike lunge & roll on my lure but didn't hook up. Encouraged I swapped to a SRO Pike Fighter in Fluro. The water clarity & level was down so thought this lure might attract more attention. 10 mins later I had a take & a slow fight, soon the first of the season was on the bank. I had to crop the rear treble which was dangling out of the gills, then removed lure easily. Weighed in @ 9lb 85cms. Celebrated with a Cohiba panatela with coffee at the fishing hut & later with the Party Short '05, that I didn't manage Thurs. Great start, on course this week in Glasgow but will be back for another session next Sat.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

Good times, sounds perfect! Sun, rain, catch fish, don't catch fish, as long as you are out there doing what you love.
