Autumn walk in the park

Yesterday I thought I might have a walk around the local Rufford Abbey in Rufford,Nottinghamshire. I had a walk around the grounds and abbey with the wife and took a flask of steamy, spicy mulled wine, I thought it a great opportunity to try a cigar that I have not yet tried…..a Romeo y Julieta no 2.

I have never been so disappointed! I found it very mild, a little tight, it did not burn very evenly and kept going out! I wish I had not even bothered!

I can accept that you have to try these things to be able to appreciate the finer things in life!

Good Day Gone Bat!

The R&J No. 2 is what is considered a "value stick." It's an ok. low-end puro that you find at all the Port-of-Calls. But from your description - tight, burn issues- it sounds like you had a bad stick, which sometimes happens to the very best puros.

It's always a bummer when you discover this under otherwise perfect circumstances.

I've had this before and will usually carry two different cigars with me, just in case one turns out to be a dud.

If they're both crap then you can just write it off as a bad day.

It is very annoying if you end up with a duff cigar though, especially if you paid UK prices for it. It can really put a downer on your day

Pre-pare!

I've had this before and will usually carry two different cigars with me, just in case one turns out to be a dud.

If they're both crap then you can just write it off as a bad day.

That's a good way to avoid the occasional "dud!" Another is the pre-punch or cut you puro before you take off to ensure the draw is good.

I've avoided many disappointments this way.
