I guess I was unlucky, got given one by a pal and had to suck like a billy goat to get a puff. Maybe it was over humidified? This mate doesn't have a humi despite my telling him it's essential. Lately when I take the lid off my scubador the humidity shoots from 69 to 74! It's humid right now.Comment

Over humidified can be typically felt when you go through the pre-lighting of a cigar ritual. The actual humidity we have at the moment is high as you have said. I like my humis at 69% or a little lower. I find a more consistent draw at 69% than at 72%, but hey, I am still learning.Originally posted by tommy View Post

My humidor seems to be over humidified as well at the minute. The humidity was at 75 so I opened it to let some of the moisture out nad it went up to 81! I've managed to get it back down to ~72 again but I'm not really sure how else to reduce itOriginally posted by tommy View PostComment

I had a similar problem a while back and was told don't leave your humidor open to reduce humidity (as I was doing) as you lose oils and stuff.
Instead take your humidifying device out for a while. I eventually found out, by checking with a digital hydrometer, that it was in fact the built in analogue hydrometer that was wrong not the actual humidity in my humidor.
from a bit off trial and error I have found if you have a squishy boveda pack or a topped up xiklar unit then your humidity is what it says it will be on the pack.
Edit: question for the veterens, if the humidity is off, would popping a tea bag or a ramekin of rice in temporarily solve the problem?Comment

Sounds like he is useing some liquid sollution for the humidity going that high in that situation i would calibrate the hygrometer
then start useing the bovedas.Comment

I am a believer in Boveda and digital hygrometers. I started with the Xikar Hygrometer but found the Caliber Digital from Cgars Ltd was in fact more accurate. My first Humidor for 75, second humidor for 200 and now my Bari for around 600 cigars have all been seasoned by Boveda and the humidity is being controlled by the 69% Boveda packs in their cedar holders. Opening either at the moment makes the humidity sky rocket, but it comes down quite quickly afterwards.Comment
