Glory hallelujah at last, one that smoked without a massive side burn or the wrapper exploding. Lesson, don't smoke a BHK out in the cold and damp. Tasty enough but that's what I would expect, but if there was any change or progression it was too subtle for me. It's an easy smoke and I found it pretty mild to medium this afternoon. I did enjoy it, though rotating the cigar and making rainbows in the hologram is likely to be the most memorable bit.

Sean, you were either very unlucky with the Short or very lucky with the No4, smoke more of each & the usual standard of both should become apparent.
Had a Punch SS No12 '02, this afternoo in Bournemouth, nicest smoke this week, so far. Yes aging works well for some brands & Punch is one of them.

The short mainly tasted of tobacoo and not a lot else - I was totally underwhelmed given how everyone talks about them.
It was an ok smoke, just nothing special.
This monte 4 is a whole different world - it's amazing! On to the second third and it just keeps getting better!
You really think I might have just got a really good monte and a really bad short?
I'll get to find out soon as I have a box of shorts on their way to me... Fingers crossed it was just a dud...
How do the monte pe's generally compare to the 4's?

I think the Petit Edmundos are in another league to the No. 4 - fantastic smokes

I find the No. 4 is inoffensive but keep a box for people who want to try a cigar for the first time when they come round

That sounds good - but as I'm one of the beginners would it be too much for me?

I shouldn't think so, being a newbie as well the Petite Edmundo I had I really enjoyed. I guess its the take it slow and have a sugary drink and or some chocolate to hand then there should be no reason why you wouldn't enjoy it too [emoji3]

                      Sugar ftw!
Every smoke I have now, I have the a latte with sugar. Does the trick nicely....
Hope they're nice as I have some on the way too.[emoji2]

I agree - I can't imagine it being a problem (but then I never found Bolivars too bad either )

Ahhh, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Epicure No. 2 - June 2004. While the day was noting special, the puro turned it into a so-called "special occasion!" The unlit draw reminded me of mixed fruit, very pleasing, indeed. (Note the missing second band. )

The draw was a bit tight, bringing into question the impact of age on a tight puro, but the smoke was creamy, smooth, delightful throughout. And the ash burned more white than grey, indicating the age of the leaf.

And in the end, while this puro was a a nice smoke when it came out in 2004, it has definately matured with age. One of the best, if not the best, puro I've enjoyed this year!

Sadly, I have only two left from this righteous June 2004 box

Names, Boy, Bag Boy, and those who know me well will attest to my lack of review writing skills, but I know what I like....AND I LOVE THIS 10 YEAR OLD PURO!

                            WOW!
