Full Disclosure: The puro shown below was actually enjoyed last night, but since it was too late for the lads in London, I decided to report today. Thank You.
Ahhh, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 - June 2004. While the day was nothing special, the puro turned it into a so-called "special occasion!" The unlit draw reminded me of mixed fruit, very pleasing, indeed. (Note the missing second band. ) IMG_0626.jpg
The draw was a bit tight, bringing into question the impact of age on a tight puro, but the smoke was creamy, smooth, delightful throughout. And the ash burned more white than grey, indicating the age of the leaf.
And in the end, while this puro was a a nice smoke when it came out in 2004, it has definately matured with age. One of the best, if not the best, puro I've enjoyed this year!
Sadly, I have only two left from this righteous June 2004 box
Names, Boy, Bag Boy, and those who know me well will attest to my lack of review writing skills, but I know what I like....AND I LOVE THIS 10 YEAR OLD PURO!
