So i went to go turn kitty litter into Silica Gel for a better humidification. The process called for acidification.

Here's the result with Hydrochloric Acid:

Unfortunately, this gave off Chlorine gas that i really didn't want to deal with. I also should've wrote down the chemical equation so i would've actually known. Damn.
I tried this with the stronger Sulphuric Acid (less chlorine in my lungs) and i guess it worked better. But it's too expensive to do that... big shame, really. Was nice seeing the acidification process.

Final verdict: Just stick to buying Silica Gel

All the time, had a little Dippy 4 today:

I don't really follow this Jizza.... Calcium Silicate and Hydrochloric Acid does not make Chlorine gas.... The closest I could think to getting you to Chlorine Gas.... Is if you had peed on the litter first and you had previously had bleach in that container..... Ammonia and Bleach would temporarily create Chlorine gas and Hydrochloric acid, but the chlorine would quickly become Chloramine Gas.... Though it's still going to fuck you up if you breath it in (think mustard gas.)

Calcium Silicate + Hydrochloric acid is just going to neutralise the acid and not really do much else..... Surely?

              SiO3 + HCl yields SiO2 + H20 + Cl2
Higher level oxides produces elemental halogens when those acids react. They should, anyways. Such is the standard chlorine generation reaction: Potassium Permanganate with HCl makes Cl2. Or bleach and HCl.

Ah love it. Been playing it since I was a kid. Two games I haven't shaken off since the 90's: Civ & Football Manager (used to be Championship Manager)

Yeah we get shafted for prices on a regular basis here in the uk (god bless the queen) so they're priced just the same as any other. Is that good or bad?

I used to love Championship Manager back in the early 2000s (2001/02 is probably my most played game ever!), but Football Manager series is just too much work for my liking, I used to like choosing a single formation, signing your players and then rushing through seasons in a day, winning everything along the way!

I occasionally try to get into Football Manager, but it just seems too complicated and time intensive, you actually need to take the oppositions tactics into account for God's sake! Or maybe I just don't enjoy computer games anymore... I never play anything else either
