Monty @ 1 week old, go to pick him up on 22nd March, very excited! Love springers, had them all my life, do a lot of shooting during the season so a spaniel is a given really!

What kind of shooting Tomo? I used to do quite a bit of rough shooting but I lost all my land rights when I moved and have never managed to pick new rights up in Lancs so I reluctantly had to give up.

I'm part of a local farm shoot, pheasant and partridge but it's fairly relaxed, we have 60-80bag days but it's more about fun and a good meal and few beers after really, it's all mates, mainly from the local rugby club. Few of the older chaps club together with the cash and the two lads who run it put down a couple hundred birds, good local fun and they run it very well to be fair.
Have been on big driven days too but don't do it very regularly, not such a fan of shooting en mass as you can get on these big commercial days for the city lot!
Do clays for a bit of fun through the summer and also have a couple of rifles for lamping etc but don't really get the time for it anymore.
Shame you can't get the chance now-are there any local syndicates you could join?

Incidentally there is a great waterfowl shoot up here, but I'm like you in that I don't like crowds when I'm shooting. Perhaps more so, I like is 2-3 shooters and kind of get back to nature really. I don't even care if I bag or not and I only kill for the pot.
Some of my happiest days have been picking off grey squirrels and woodies on my own in the early hours, sometimes not even with a gun..... If it got too easy the ol' catapult used to make an appearance.

I joined my local gun club, but sitting in a little hut plinking targets got depressing.... Haven't been clay shooting for years though, I may have to refill the old gun cabinet with a couple shoties and drag the Mrs along with me!

Partagas Lusitania for me, not so much a smoke as a journey! Washed down with this this and this together with some of this Bit louche for a school night? Definitely, but it is my birthday after all!
