A belated entry. Had a great afternoon down the cafe after a wonderful venison meal my wife prepared. Decided something special was required; went to the cave & trawled through, found at the back of the loose stick drawer & noted my recently aquirred Boli 109 5th Ave. Although I got down there just after opening 15:30'sh, the place was already buzzing. I managed to get the 2nd table in the glass house. Taking out the 109 I noted how good it felt in my hand. Although it's a big stick, it didn't feel unwieldly. he smell of th estick was gorgous, no soft spots. Cut a small to take of the tip off, good pre-light draw.
After toasting the foot it was soon glowing nicely, the flav started coming through & the flavour was milder than avge Boli but not milder than you'd expect from & DC length stick. The Leffe Blond was a good match & by the time I'd finished the first one, the cigar was picking up in strenght & flav. After an hr & a half I was joined by a Serb, who'd been living here for 15yrs (just a newbie really to my 23) & then the old boy from last week arrived. This time we had more of a conversation & although he spoke no English, with my minimal Dutch, I managed to find out he was 86yo, lived in the area all his life, has an 84yo local wife, who often comes with him for a drink but she's not much of a drinker & finds 3 Palms enough. Frankly I find 3 Palms enough! Anyway he started with his pipe & then hada couple of Davidoff CD's.
My cigar lasted 2hrs 45 & 4 Leffe's but I would have got 3hrs out of it, if I hadn't had to rush at the end to get home to the wife & started applying more attention to the conversation than the cigar, but then again it was the best Sunday afternoon I have had in there & look fwd to another next month. Glad I have another 7 109's, I'll be limiting myself to one or two a yr for sure.
