My first cohiba robusto...hmmm...kinda hoping its a fake, construction is terrible, head has unravelled a lot, threatening to unravel further up,uneven burn, could be humidity smoking outside I suppose, spots on band look cut part into a 4th spot tho, smoking very one dimensional and with no particular flavours...not my ideal first expensive cigar :-(
Mud city stout is lush tho :-)

Ok,a third in and had to ditch it I favour of an inca figurado...got really acrid :-(

Was it from a reputable trader? Did you only get a single, or a few?

Any idea of its age also? Apparently young Cohibas can be a bit meh.... That wouldn't explain the construction though!

Bubba, I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs but I haven't been on the forums a lot lately..
If your trying to build a stash & sample new cigars...DON'T buy samplers..or boxes..
Buy pairs, smoke one, make notes & put the other away...samplers usually have at least a couple of sticks that nobody would want..hence they put them in samplers..
Arf's (tippex's) review's are a solid place to get some great views on cigars, the man's got a good palate & gives honest opinions....

No no..all advice is welcomed, haven't bought any samplers and have been buying in pairs for a while...its just a bit disheartening when I get a bad cigar when I only smoke 1 or 2 a week and am on a shite wage,I'm thinking if I buy H&F aged or orchant selection at least I know they've been aged and should be good or stick to NC...not as simples as I thought...doh

I don't mind the aging process, but am looking forward to trying aged sticks, so I know what I have to look forward to!

Can I just say bubba .... it doesn't matter whatever the age, the quality or selection .... if you smoke outside in Winter in humidity on a falling temperature then the chance of getting a sound smoke is massively reduced. I've done and seen cigars slowly bulge and swell till they eventually burst .... the warning sign is the draw going from free flowing to becoming tighter, the cigar isn't plugged, it's choking on heated moisture behind the burn and there is nothing you can do about it.

Tip. Buy an outside hygrometer and if the moisture in the air is above 75% don't even contemplate smoking as it could end in a waste of money.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

So what do they do in humid places like New Orleans? Do they put silica gel in their humodors to keep them dry?
