A little late on the action, but had my first cigar for too long (probably the best part of a month) on Friday. A group of friends and I headed to the Hotel du Vin in Cheltenham for my birthday meal. Had some excellent pre-dinner cocktails, a lovely meal, and some cracking wines (including this Malbec I'd heartily recommend - was a bit pricier in the restaurant, obviously, but worth every penny for the aroma alone! The flavour was even better...)
Finished the evening in the bothy with a Trini Reyes each. Lovely smoke - well kept stock at this particular HdV. Was proud of my friends who, with only a little training over the summer , we're picking out all the flavours you'd expect from the Reyes. The evening was, as it should have been, finished with several excellent Islay whiskies. We had planned to leave the hotel and head into town at some point... Alas, we were enjoying the evening so much we finally headed back to Cirencester at 2am, having not even contemplated leaving the confines of the HdV's lounge...
