    hey all,
after a hectic day (had to take son to a birthday party...... acquaintances of 'er indoors, total strangers to me!! my idea of hell), i finished the evening off with a monte PE, some nespresso decaff and the last drop of highland park 12!! i've been going through the monte's at an alarming rate, i've only about a dozen left (i only bought the box a couple months ago)!! an absolute 'cracker' of a cigar......... and just like the hupmann connie 1, RASS, JL2, bolivar BBF, it's made it into the top ranks and will now be a permanent addition to the stash!!

    Nice one Senor!

I fired up a Partagas D4 yesterday. This was my second ever.
The first I think was over humidifed and was harsh as hell.
This one yesterday, started well. A little resistant though on the draw, and then to my surprise the wrapper started to crack
and the cigar fell to pieces after that. It wasn't burning properly, the draw was up and down... flavours weren't happening...
I laid it to rest about half way through... what a waste. No more D4's for me!

    All the best,
    Simon

Have to agree on the PE. An absolute stellar cigar that will be in rotation for a long time to come. I prefer the PE to any other cigar in the Monte range. Sheer joy every time

totally agree stevie, i'm not much of a monte fan (even the no.2 doesn't 'float my boat'), but the PE is fantastic!! also, the especial no.1 is great too (the H&F 1998 aged are amazing)........ don't care much for the rest of the range!!

You know, by that logic, you should like the petit no. 2 they're releasing this year.
I find the no.2 smokeable out of the box (I know, I knoow they're much better aged) so I personally can't wait for the petit.

hi Simon it sounds like your humi may be over humidifying your cigars, do you know what it is reading?

              Digi Caliber 3:

              Temp range 65-71
              Humidity range 65-71

The Partgas D4 has only been in the humi for 1-2 weeks.
Nothing else from the humi has reacted this way, just to note.

I felt it may have been tightly wrapped, it was quite solid, and also maybe dry...

              Thanks,

Thanks peanutpete, I think so too.
Shame. It's put me off D4's for life now...
