    morning all,
a rather nice day here in belfast....... cloudy, but dry and quite warm! finished work early today, we man i still at this grandparent's, 'er indoors in bed, not well!! after sorting out breakfast, i retired out back with a pot of nettle tea and a trinidad fundadores!! a great way to relax on a sunday morning!! i've found lately that nettle tea pairs up nicely with cohiba and trinidad cigars...... the grassy, herbally, woody flavours really work well with each other!!

    more later.......

To take advantage of the intermittent sun and heat today, I just had a Cohiba Robusto.

Now, every single Cohiba I have had before I've found to be quite disappointing. I've tried several Siglo I's, a couple of Siglo II's, one or two Panetelas and an Exquisitos, and wasn't impressed with any of them.

I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Robusto tasted. The first third was especially gorgeous, and reminded me quite a lot of a top-end Bolivar. The only drawbacks I had today were the incredibly uneven burn it had most of the way through (though to be fair it could be due to my current inability to light cigars as well as usual due to recent flexor tendon repair surgery which has left me with only one usable hand for at least four weeks).
The other issue I had was how the wrapper wanted to unravel from the head (the cut was fine). In the final third I lost my patience and took the whole wrapper off to finish it without it. Overall though, it was a damn good smoke.

This has definitely confirmed that my favourite vitola overall is Robusto.

Oliva Serie G Belicoso this fine summer's afternoon, not the greatest cigar ever but does the job nicely!

Firstly, congrats on the good operation! Hope you won't need another one after . And brave out the first 4 weeks by using splints from your boxes. Tear up the pieces of cedar and light them on fire to light your foot on fire. Its much easier than fully scorching the foot with a torch.
Secondly, how many years did you have on that?? I had a robusto straight from Cuba 2months ago and it was just not as good as i thought. The other 4 robustos are now going to sit in my humidor for AT least another 8 months before i visit them again.

I deal mostly with singles, so I can't date the cigars I buy (which in my opinion is the only advantage to buying boxes), but I document the date of my cigars as and when I buy them, and I bought that Robusto sometime before Dec 2011, so it was at least a year and a half old.

And yeah, this unusable hand really sucks. It was only the tendons in the pinky finger that needed repair (new box cutter blades are SHARP), but the whole hand and forearm needs to be in a splint for at least four weeks, and I'm just over one week in. I'll have a scar across the lower finger joint and a zig zag scar down the inner side of the whole finger to remind me of the lesson I learned. No work for at least three more weeks, no driving for at least five more weeks, no more motorcycle riding for at least seven more weeks, no more guitar for four more weeks, no more bass guitar for seven more weeks, and no more piano or violin for at least nine more weeks. I am currently a human fucking Furby)

Ah that's a sucker then. I have that problem occasionally too but then i write em down now
Au contraire, mon ami! Le boxes are actually quite nice for a few reasons: box splits, the nice cedar pencil cases you get with em, the pretty designs, the beautiful look when you open em to see you favourite sticks there waiting for you
For you see, they're meant for people after they've smoked so much they know what they like. So they buy them by the boxload. Also, that's why people can afford to bomb each other, cause they've got a whole cabinet humidor with 15-20 boxes of cigars in em

That sounds quite painful. Ah well, everyone will have their fair share of accidents, you're getting em out early
And i hope you mean: fucking human furby. Not that you're a human fucking furby. With all those skills, i'm pretty sure you can find a nice lassie to fuck instead

Sunday evening saw me incinerating a Trinidad Reyes. Pre light draw was perfect and the overall smoke was delightful
