So i realised i should've grabbed my Maduro Chisel today to celebrate well... Maduro!
    But instead i had...

    My first Fuente

Perfecto shape. Not sure how long. Around 15,17cm?
Windy day. Double-double coffee with a mcdonalds breakfast.

I like how i can just use a single torch and it does the job fine

It was quite smooth and paired well with the cream in my coffee. Kept getting good 3-5cm ashes.
    Final third was pleasant too.
    Best Dominican I've ever had.

    That looks very nice.

I've had mixed encounters with Fuente, a Don Carlos Robusto exploded on me (the only only cigar I've had ever do that), flip side was the Hemingway Short Story which gave a divine experience.

The WHAT did WHAT now!?! Is that some new slang or did it legitimately explode on you??
You sure thats a dominican?? maybe it was a Syrian cigar instead..

Also, I've found the fuentes much more expensive than most dominicans.. Seems dodgey that theyd give you "mixed experiences"

Hehe when I say exploded I mean the 'slang' term for the wrapper and binder both splitting and unravelling very quickly, it gives the appearance of the cigar exploding.

I was told the reason you get these experiences with NC's and Fuente in particular is because they use extremely thin leaves for the wrapper, hence are much more fragile and susceptible to humidity fluctuations etc.

I've just remembered I had a Fuente Rosado at The Prince of Wales pub which was pretty darn good too.

Ah, thats a tad more relaxing to think about then, haha. I've had a few fakies that do that.
And thats strange, I've smoked dominicans in the rain before. Only thing that happens is it gets unpalatable past halfway/....
Actually, if you take a close viddy, my fuente today had a fissure above the band. That didnt even explode on me.

                  Be happy to, amigo.

I picked up a couple of these puros recently at a well known duty free shop in the Caribbean. It was in a box dated 2008 and the vendor swore it was the original box. I finished one off about an hour ago and to be honest, it did not live up to my high expectations, based on a review I read recently, but it wasn't a bad stick, nonetheless. It reminded me quite a bit of a Punch-Punch (plently of grassy flavors) and if it hadn't come with a band, I would have guessed it to be a Punch. I'll wait a few weeks before I sample the other.

I was not aware it was discontinued. Thanks for the info.

Had a Gloria Cubana Inmenso this evening. A bit disappointed at this time to be honest. For such an imposing cigar, it has little depth at this stage IMHO, and only really started to develop any character after the first half of the cigar had been smoked. I do think they could have good ageing potential however. It will be interesting to see how they develop as they acquire more age....
