Yes, I agree. I've been called a moron, a troll and a grunt. Told my opinion stands for nothing and had a warning sent to me via pm by a mod. All for expressing an opinion in a non threatening manner. Disgusting!

I have few cigars in life, and am keen to try. What would be good start Cigar that is not so much money but enough for start?

The big famous shop in Amsterdam is Hajenius, and I am saving my money for a shop there at the end of month, but am little scared as is VERY rich shop and I know little of cigars.

Do you guys have good idea as what is good starting cigar that I can buy there for not TOO much.

I have about 110 Euro by the end of the month for cigars, should I buy some good ones or box of cheaper to try?

Cigar smoking is not so popular now as before as smokers are bared from most places but some still do smoke in secret places.

Where do you smoke? Is it bared in UK or do they not do it same as here? Are there secret places in UK?

      Thanks

OK, Benefit of the doubt Mr ilovesilkcut for no other reason than that for years (too many years) I was a cigarette smoker .... until I learned the error of my ways. I smoked tinned B&H un-tipped, they were the best I'd discovered, but my smoking them was without doubt more habit than enjoyment.

In answer to your questions as best I can. Yes, Hajenius is one of the most expensive cigar shops in Holland. But I don't think you need be intimidated by that, cigars are more expensive than cigarettes (which Hajenis also sell) and your money will be as welcome as anyones.

I know very little about Dutch cigars other than the popular mass made brands sold in supermarkets etc. aren't that good. I'm not going to point you to Cubans or Dominican that journey and discoveries are best made by yourself alone. Hajenius will sell Toscano cigars. They are first rate and not too expensive. I would suggest you avoid the flavoured ones and start with a 5xpack of Toscanello and then try a few more from the brand over the next several months. (Classico and Antico are very good).

Cigar smoking (or any smoking for that matter) in the UK is pretty much the same as in Holland. Banned just about everywhere. There are smoking lounges (you will have those too) some of our pubs have outside heated areas (likewise your bars), but any secret places other than my own conservatory I've not yet discovered .... but then if I had they wouldn't be secret.

Now, I hope this helps and you'll be able to participate fully once you've tried one or two cigars.

But for the moment I can understand the reservations of some of our members. Cigarettes are not something we discuss to any degree .... and for the moment you are a little like an Aprilla driver on an Alfa Romeo's Forum.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Sorry! I not offend Leeds! Friend here in UvA shop from Leeds is very nice.

I not want fight here between your members and am guilty for starting such.

As men here say "start again" so I try?

I am Jan Serek from Amsterdam, I study at UvA with brain and cognitive science for second year.
I live with parents (boo) in Zuidoost which some of you may been for football or rock concerts at the arena.
I like Ajax, and have to work part time at Media Markt (boo, more for money)
I am keen with Cigars as mature and know cigarettes are not mature but sickening!

I join UKCF forums to know more cigars and get help in buying?
There are lot of rules for buying and not talking here, can I talk about buying in Amsterdam without being rule bad?

Sludgie say about my english is good, thankyou but I use Bing Translate a few times in all words to help, My english is not so great in writing, but I get by with speaking.

Again I would like to ask which cigars for 110 euro start? I get salary
tomorrow so can go shop for first.

Thankyou again for waiting and nice words from sludgie and others, but no fighting members because of my mistakes please!

Personally, 'The Freck', I do feel you initiated the argument(s), through your first post and second. i.e. you were very aggressive to begin with, and this tends to ensure defensive posts - I'm not sure if this is what you intended? Either way, I think the responses were, as said, defensive and you should probably calm down a little. Being aggressive isn't the same as being threatening.

If you still feel it's not your fault, then I'd either try to move on from this thread or simply leave the forum.

To all; sorry, I can't be assed with this on a weekly basis, and it's best if people get peeved with the forum, that they simply don't both interacting with it. It then resolves problems on both sides.

Back to the thread in hand, we've had a few trolls recently, all around the same time, so it's of no surprise people (including me) felt that this was a trolling attempt. I'm still not convinced! But it seems people are helping him. So either help, or ignore. Ta!

There you go. I would reckon the Dutch BOTL guys will be no different from us on here. Best I think you don't mention cigarettes (ever again), change your screen name and introduce yourself as someone with little experience and wanting to know more about cigars. The big benefit to yourself of a Dutch Forum is those guys will know their home market and what you can best get for the money you wish to spend.

                        Good Luck.

To be honest, I don't think I was aggressive nor threatening. I think someone took offence to a clearly non personal general statement I made. At no point did I attack a member specifically. I however was personally picked out and ridiculed for all to see, much like pur New member, this was why the statement was made in the first place.

                          New member joins, ridiculed.

Current member defends new member, ridiculed.

                          Current member pm'd and warned.

Do you not see the pattern?

I standby what I said, if you are paranoid enough to take a general statement personally I can't help that. Do not attack me personally because of it.

                          Good day.

No, you were just overly aggressive towards everyone. Both I and the mod agree, as do the other people you attacked.
Funny how this attitude suddenly happens to members and how their opinions suddenly change - once they've signed up elsewhere!
