I win!! nah, I'd love to hear your thoughts in more detail on the VI, they're definitely a very refined smoke, I just found them a bit lacking in character, whereas the sublimes or GE just ooze character to me anyway... When we eventually sort a meet maybe it should be a VI vs Sublimes (Monte) smoke off ?!We've had this chat about me being bonkers for swapping Sublimes for Siggy 6's before! I've got plenty of the former and until last night hadn't tried the latter. Fresh Siggy 6's would have been not great and not helped with my purchasing decisions at all, good to be able to pick up your surplus that had a guaranteed 18+ months on them... Do you know what, refined is exactly how I'd describe the one I had last night, the first 2 thirds were really smooth and the tobacco oozed a real quality. I enjoyed it much more than any other of the Standard and Linea 1492 ranges I've tried and I've had a good number of Siglo II's, IV's and Robusto's - all of which are around the same age as I suspect this VI was. It lasted me a good 1hr30 or more and only just started to get a tad bitter right at the nub... I am really looking forward to trying one of the 2008 V's that I brought back from Gib. Cohiba still aren't my favourite marca but I am starting to enjoy them much more than I did when I first started smoking Cubans - pretty convinced that the trick there is that I'm now starting to smoke stock which is coming into it's prime rather than being young and a bit harsh!
As for VI vs. Sublime... I'd still pick up a Sublime in preference!Last edited by spirit_of_will; 26-05-2012, 07:09 AM.

The thing to know with cohiba is that they can be quite nasty young. Three to five minimum is often required before they start to balance.
Many are put off because they pay a premium price and off the shelf get a really nasty smoke.
I have some '06 robustos and they are coming good now.
I have some '08 VI's and i won't be trying one for a few years yet.
When they are good they are great
