As with a number of other members here, when you hear a top brand of cuban cigars has produced a box with that kind of inconsistency and with some complete rubbish in, you get concerned and worry for starter about the legitimacy of the stick.
Please do not post to/about me on this or any other thread (Cubans so expensive!) without first getting your facts straight

Perhaps like cars a Friday or Monday made one may not always make top quality
And i have to agree with the comment that some of the lower priced cigars taste and smoke just as well as the top end ones.
Being one to ask questions that others won't, where did the box of Reyes come from??????.
Some time ago Monkeynuts sent me a Reyes and a Quintero panatella, i now have 2 boxes of Quintero's in the tupp, but would not stick a Reyes up my rear end even if it did cure piles

Reyes came from cuba
Another member with reyes negativity, they have become popular and like the monty 2 and 4, popular does not mean quality and popular tends to mean quality suffers for quantity. Finding a couple of dogs in a box of 24 does not mean fakes or the reseller is dodgy, it means the maker should sort out quality control. The sticks I have purchased this year are in my opinion, a great deal better than the 07,08 and 09 that I purchased previously. Quality control has always been a problem, it is getting better all the time.

On a serious note, I've yet to have a single 'bad' Reyes out of five boxes, if they came from Cuba I would suspect their quality control for home stock is less stringent than for boxes bound for the UK?Exploring the world - one smoke at a time.

Also never had a bad one over several boxes. I cannot believe they are produced in anything like the quantity of the Monty 4 and the construction on mine has always been superb. Still it is Cuba.
Gmacz, can you put up some pictures of the bad sticks (especially before and after dissection) and share your knowledge of cigar production issues and rolling flaws, be very interesting to see.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

Sorry, i only take pics of the first one and then smoke them to oblivion and then they are all gone.
I always smoke outside and like to see what a great smoke is made up of leaf wise.
I also like to put answers to a poor smoke leaf wise. Why is it tight, plugged or smoking badly.
The answer is usually in the leaf. My late 2011 reyes have produced two bad sticks and loads of good smokes, the 2 boxes are all mixed together.
They are the full range from excellent all the way down to the 2 dogs. They are brand new but these 2 had poor leaf and plenty of green inside, not just mud splashed green, more not properly dried. It is all down to leaf selection when they are rolled.
Part of cigar ownership for me to view the finished leaf. I have had 6 boxes of Boli RC and never had a problem, I know others have.
This does not mean that the others buy fakes. In my experience late 2011 Trini reyes are inconsistent, that does not mean that 07,08,09 etc are in the same boat. With age, these sticks will probably be more consistent. I will never know as they will all be ash before the year ends.
