  • Coffee grinders

Just thought I'd ask the question as there seems to be a few of you who like your coffee.
I hear that brewing with freshly ground beans is the way to go, and that a burr grinder rathe than a spinning blade one is the way to go.
So, what's the cheapest I can get one that will do the job properly? I really don't need another expensive hobby!
    TIA

Not sure if they still do them but I have a Starbucks burr grinder (?45) which is a rebranded Dualit grinder same as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dualit-Burr-...8046711&sr=8-1
Been going strong for a few years now and certainly worth the money.

I've got a Dualit and it's not let me down, even when it got stuck on a stone that was in with the beans. It's not the cheapest though... But it is tried and tested and has good reviews. Well worth the extra ?20 over the cheaper end of the market imo.

Freshly ground beans are definitely the way to go though, enjoy!

Burr is the only way to go. Assuming you don't intend to use it for espresso (which is far more demanding on grinder performance) then mosy burr grinders will surfice. Consioder stepping up to a semi-pro model for ease of changing burrs (something you will want to do every year or two).

        A couple of suggestions

I got a dirt cheap one from K Mart for $15 and it's truly stood the test of time. The blades aren't sharp so them getting blunt isn't an issue - as they don't need to be sharp to work.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. They've helped me work out what to look for and I'm going to keep my eye on ebay too.
