Also, can I assume there are a range of strengths and flavours with rums as there are with cigars or, say, do you never put a rum with either a mild or a strong cigar as one (the rum or the cigar) will come off second best. On the basis that a mere rum will never upstage a Belicosos Finos (!), what's the recommended pairing with one of those (seems like a good place to start). So many questions...

Been through my bottle now. It's a mixer for me. Not a fan of the 12, not tried the others. Bit dry and not enjoyed sipping neat or on ice.

Tried a Don Papa rum the other day. Was vile. Way too sweet. Avoid. There I feel better now. Luckily I tried it at my local. I'd have been furious if I'd bought a bottle blind.

I made the mistake of buying a bottle of this not long ago…. Never again! Horrible stuff, ended up giving it away

Had that with a Robert Graham virtual cigar and rum event and was given a bottle for Christmas.

                Good isn’t it?!

I’ve avoided rum since I was 15 due to too much Bacardi one time. Now it’s a journey of discovery.

Cinzano Bianco. My patrents' 25th wedding anniversary. I'm sure my Dad had better things planned than cleaning up after his two teenage sons in the middle of the night ! (For the record, my brother's downfall the same evening was Dubonnet. What teenage boy drinks Dubonnet?! Or Cinzano come to think of it... Mind you. it was the 70s!)

If you are on insta, ‘the rum ambassador’ ian burrell is worth a follow. I am in a rum fan whatsapp group with him and some buddies… he has a promotional role but also an encylopedic knowledge of rum. Henis also a producer now.

I finally worked up to trying the aged madeiran rums … very good value indeed. Relatively hard to find here as they are not so globally known nor quite the quality of caribbean rums

Just trying an Appleton Estate 8yo Reserve I picked up on Amazon Prime day. Not tried it with a cigar yet, but seems like it should go pretty well. Rich, woody and not too sweet.

Anyone tried pairing this one with a cigar?
