I wouldn't go near Gordons personally. Big T is along the right lines...

I've found a Hendricks and Schweppes tonic (Britvic is shite) to go rather well with a P2 in the past.

There is no tonic but Schweppes, that's a given, I think we are just discussing the gin here.

On the subject of Sloe Gin I can't believe anyone buys it ready made when there is a perfectly good Women's institute recipe and the bushes round here are covered in the little sods come November. We made about half a gallon some 5 years back and it's coming in nicely now.

Always the first nip of the day when fishing, watching cricket or rugby, well anything really as long as I remember to charge my hip flask.

After a trip to that Yorkshire last winter I am also warming up for a large scale batch or Elderberry Gin this autumn. The blossom looks great round here so looking forward to a great crop and then laying down a few bottles.

Swap the Schweppes for a Fever Tree (as Stephan has already suggested) and you'll never go back to the horrible sweetness of a mass produced tonic...

I'm another who will avoid Gordon's as much as possible... Although it's better than the sand that comes in Beefeater bottles (though I've yet to try their 24 'premium gin'). Hendricks is a nice change-up and Plymouth is my go-to.

Gordons, dear christ. Bombay Saphire as a BARE MINIMUM. Next rung up the ladder would be Hendricks. Top, or near to the top, would be Tanqueray Ten, great floral gin made with fresh botanicals unlike all other gins. A lot can also be said for Millers Gin, if you can find the Westbourne Strength variant, which is rare, then your mouth will love you forever. The Westbourne and Tanqueray Ten can be supped straight.
