had my first cup of earl grey tea today! went to a cigar shop the other day in a city im going to be visiting on a weekly basis now. they had a terrible selection of cigars by the way, but the man there seemed to be very cool. was not the most fancy place, but very cozy i guess. i walked in and of course the only thing on my mind was the humidor! so went in, bought a drew estate cigar (big mistake and should have known better) just so i didnt seem rude then started to walk around his shop. he had lots of nice coffee beans for sale and i saw he had tea. the first one i saw was an aged earl grey. the first thing i thought of was the forum! i have seen earl grey mentioned quite a bit, most recently i think was deano out in the garden drinking some while wearing his mums scarf! why i remember that I do not know! lol but anyway i bought the box of tea and tried it a couple of hours ago. was very smooth. probably the best tea i have ever had. but i still think im a coffee guy. it was missing something, but i will try more. maybe i need to go with 2-3 tea bags next time? also bought me a cuban crafters cutter there. who knows maybe me and the old man will hit it off and i can smoke some stogies with him over the next 4 months. i have a feeling im going to be taking my own smokes though as hes not quite hip to kick ass cigars i guess. but was a cool spot for sure. he even had a mean little dog running around the place lol.

Although I do love a good cup of Earl Grey, I've never thought of pairing tea and cigars, might have to give it a go...
Incidentally, on the subject of Earl Grey, I saw fresh bergamot for sale on a foody site. I'd never even seen a Bergamot before!

Edward Sahakian the proprietor of the wonderful Davidoff store in London's st James recomended me to drink black tea if I wanted to enjoy the flavour of a good cigar and I have never looked back.
Don't drink cofee these days as it sends me loopy.
Drink Early Grey (made with leaves not floor swwpings in a bag) in the morning and Lapsang in the afternoon. Mind you I was given some Darjeeling this week and a pot of that is just nectar. haven't tried it with a cigar yet though.Nic

I love tea & a cigar - usually just a pot of Yorkshire (tea bag), but the smokiness of Lapsong Souchong goes well.
A scotch chaser makes a tasty triumverate - Bruichlladich particularly (pun intended, if you know how to pronounce it) or Balvennie Double Wood for me.

Nic, I agree with you entirely. I, too, like EG in the morning and LS in the late afternoon. I must admit that EG goes so well with a cigar that I could drink gallons off the stuff and smoke myself to death at the same time!No man has the right to fix the boundary of a nation.

I'm drinking some eg right now with a little milk and a teaspoon of orange blossom honey in it too and am digging it a little more. Also having a rascc at the moment too, but I believe that's another thread! But goes to show you how different our tastes are. I had never heard of milk in tea till the other day. Tbh I thought it was a dreadful idea!
