Port Ellen is an Islay Malt and VERY peaty! I suspect that, with the age, the peatiness will have subsided and it'll be absolutely beautiful!
It's a shame to keep for special occasions.....bring a hip flask if you're coming to the herf in London. I, for one, would never turn down a 24 year old single Islay!
