Kraken is a good choice for Coke but for mojitos and any other cocktail, I would go with a Havana Club no.7 or if your feeling flush, the HC barrel proof which is 18 year old!
oooh Rum a favourite of mine, (It helps to have boss who loves the rum and cigars and is a girl) loads out there Diplomatico reseva exclusivo is sublime.
However even a Captain Morgans Spiced is lovely on the rocks or mixed and then we move onto the heavy hitter (It's my Boss's favourite as she has heritage relating to its country of origin) That's Woods Navy Rum (You drink it in shots although you can do it on the rocks) a navy buddy of mine has told me the is the closest thing to the old Tot so its popular.
Strong lots of character an almost liquorice hit to it as well. The Havana Club 7 another good choice. Sometimes I really do think in a past life I was Irish or Scottish or a raving alcoholic.
I never smoke to excess - that is, I smoke in moderation, only one cigar at a time.- Mark Twain
+ 1 on the Ron Zacappa Solera 23 - nice everyday sipping rum, the XO is very good too, for something special try Appletons Estate 21 year, very very good, the 12 year extra is good too and better value, only had the Cockspur Five star which nice, the VSOR is better. Martinique produce a few good rums if you can find them the J Bally's are good and the Clement's are nice too especially the Vieux. Last time I was in Cuba I was very tempted to buy a bottle of Havana Club San Cristobal de la Habana but resisted, difficult to find outside Cuba for a reasonable price, maybe next time I'm over...
For a mixing Rum try Plantation 3 stars, probably one of the best mixing rums on the market today, its actually a dark rum cold filtered. It's blended from 3 rums from 3 different country's, great in daiquiri's. Once you have tried this you will be spoilt....
Apparently the only sweet rum in the world according to the shop in Havana where I bought mine, maybe with a pinch of salt?
lol... Could not decide which way was the best to take it - cold or room temperature, neat or on ice, how do you think it's best? I've finished it now but I think I'll get another bottle...
Was just thinking of the Diplomatico... I've tried the single vintage and that was nice, not tried this or the Ambassador, think I'll try this first...
