From memory, the Perigueux area in France had a great couple of years from 1983-1986 and the wines from that era are still in their peak. I picked up an excellent 1983 (my birth year) while I was in France in September for reasonable money €30

If you want something SUPERB then contact La Cour des Vins in 6 Boulevad de Stalingrad Perigueux +33 5 35 07 14 64
They can account for the regions wine back to around 1900 and are priced reasonably for what you get, their knowledge is second to none and there is usually a good English speaker available.

85 was a pretty decent year in Bordeaux but all will need drinking now
Personally I would try and pick up some 85 vintage port pretty available
I am at a wine auction in feb will check the date and see if any 85s are about
Also if you like dessert wine the year was very good for Sauternes
