It's Burns night on Sunday so I've a haggis ordered, Talisker, Auchentoshan 3 Wood & Macallan Sherry Cask on standby.

I'll be making Cranachan as well, so now I just need to decide what I'll smoke afterwards.

I'm thinking a Connie A or one of the SP Molinos I got from RCH.

I saw in the paper today that some Tescos do a haggis pizza, I want one despite my diet!

I was starting to get into my whisky before I left the UK. I am quite picky though, I don't like the peaty ones and I don't like the honey/sugary ones. I like Highland Park, Glenmorangie, Glenlivet so far.

Unfortunately, Whisky, and alcohol in general, is ridiculously expensive out here in Malaysia. The cheaper ones here are JD, Jamesons etc at around 30 quid a bottle! I've tried a few Japanese whiskies though that I really enjoy - Yamazaki and Hibiki. They're not peaty, but I would definitely try some if you see any.

Yes mate, do try them they are worth it (in my opinion) and yes, not peaty at all.

            Enjoy

Glenmorangie has a cask finish for most palettes.

The 12yo Quinta Ruban is a port finish that's sweet & floral

The 12yo La Santa is a sherry finish. Rich, spicy and full of christmas cake-i-ness,

The 12yo nexteur d'or is a Sauternes wine cask finish. Very floral & fragment with citrus notes in droves.

The standard expression is a real oaky treat. Smooth & not too spicey

The 18yo had more body & just a little more refinement on the palette.

All can be had for ?45ish bar the 18yo at ?90ish

IMO I nice way to explore different cask types without breaking the bank!

Glenmorangie have a great range IMO, the 18 is a real treat..... It screams maple syrup on the nose to me.

I think that Glenmorangie is an understated brand and one that's easy to overlook.
