It?ll be interesting to see how this bottle develops.

Ooo love me a wee dram. Anything Islay works for me. Currently open Islay bottle is Caol Ila Moch
Other currents are
Machrie Moor (Arran) and
BenRiach Maderensis Fumosus (Speyside), this one is sublime with a smoke! Not a big fan of Speyside, but i need another bottle of this one.

I was at a whisky festival/taster yesterday. Over 40 different bottles to try.
Highlights for me were:
Glenmorangie Quintas
Nikka Coffee Grain
Glenlivet 18yr
My friend really liked the Ka Va Lan Solist but I thought it was awful. Full flavoured and overpowering, not my kind of tipple.
Also experimented with some Islay as the ones I've tried I didn't like. The best of the ones I tried was Talisker. Also had Laguvulin and Oban but I didn't like those, they smelt like a hospital.
I took a stick with me but it must have been the only place in the whole of Asia where there was no smoking.
It lasted from 12-5 and think we tried pretty much everything on offer. The Glenrothes guys even give us half a bottle of 1998 they had left over the finish.
Rolled in at about 6:30, passed out and woke up at 2am so that's my sleep pattern knackered for the next week. Shitfaced [emoji16]

parnaby Not like Islay? Blasphemy! LOL. True, sometimes the smell is a bit off, but the taste more then makes up for it. Never had one smell of ether tho! If it tastes too much of alcohol i add a splash of water.
Talisker (Isle of Skye) and Oban (westcoast mainland) produce some fine malts, that's because they're near Islay :-)

Yea, just don't really like the peatyness and smokey taste. Plus the smell, don't want to drink something that smells like germolene.

Heres something you might like.. What Im sipping at the moment. Its an equal measure of Scotch (bog standard blended is fine) with equal measure of Amaretto liqueur over ice. Its a lovely sipping cocktail called the Godfather.
Simple and effective!
