"Accidentally" went down the spirits aisle at Waitrose, they had a single bottle of this fabulous lady. Hastily checked online and found it was at moderate discount. It is now... mine!

Abelour A'bunadh Bottling No. 55. Cask strength at a whopping 60.9%.

I also bought a decent bottle of good still mineral water to dilute slightly and open up the flavours (though I may try some neat for experimental purposes).

P.S.
After having to get a bigger knife to cut through the fabulously thick wax cap, I tried a thimbleful, neat. It's...eye opening. For the first time ever, I concur it's a spirit that needs a little dilution to release the good flavours.

I tried the 10 years with much happiness... now the 12 years is great too , and Lucky me is almost half price in Sainsbury.

The Delmore was a gift....but the Belvinie was me...was on offer in Sainsbury for 40 rather than the 50+ the other week.

Big fan of the superstition....if your not into peaty whisky...this is a great starting point.

Polished a bottle on Xmas eve last year with my brother in law...and the following day I wasn't too bad haha

I must say I really did not like the superstition. The flavour or smell just didnt do it for me. In the end I had a little drop of glenlivet founders reserve.

Picked up this during the week and had a few last night along with a JLP Cazadore. I found it to be a very rich flavour that went really well with the stick.

Far enough in my recovery to permit a drink over the weekend. Shared a bottle of wine with the missus, and also tried a dram of the Balvenie Caribbean Cask that I've seen mentioned around here.

It was very smooth and drinkable, good flavours too, but it didn't really bowl me over like I'd expect. I'm hoping to get a little bit more out of the 17 year Balvenie now...
