any opinions on the isle of jura 10 year old single malt or the talisker
Both are a decent dram, I used to drink nothing but Jura however these days I have broadened my tastes and out of the two I would probably go with the Talisker.

I find Jura a bit odd - it has a distinct iodine undercurrent and a slightly saline finish. It's not bad, but it's not a syrupy thing.
Talisker, imho, is fabulous - smokey without the standing in a bonfire you get from Lagavulin; clean tasting; and hinting that you're by the sea but not in it. Talisker are doing various named bottling at the moment but straight up 10yo should be the place to start (again IMHO)
I picked a couple of bottles up from ALDI recently. I really wasn't expecting much at 18 quid a bottle.
I really was pleasantly surprised. I have had worse for more money. I will be trying the Islay next time
I pop in there.
I really like the Islay one...Like you said for the money really can't go wrong ...Need to try the Highland one..
