I saw a review when it was first released saying that it's essentially a whisky in the ?20-25 bracket with fake tits.

Haha, brilliant. Another brand damaged by the Beckham's! Range Rover made a lady car with Vicky B. I'd like an old bottle of dimple but the cost. What's new dimple like?

I have tried Octomore (I think it was 5.1) but I didn't think much of it. To me it was trying too hard to be the most heavily peated whisky and didn't taste that great

Comus is the 4.1 expression in a frosted clear bottle. Matured in Sauternes wine casks, a completely different animal to all the other Octomore.

It is extremely smooth, complex and has a great peat finish, but the nose has hardly a hint of the pettiness that awaits.

I tried it at the distillery on a tour, came out raving and went to the bar to try the later release, to say it was "chalk & cheese" would be an understatement

That does sound a lot better and by your description it also sounds a lot different. The thing about the Octomore I tried was that you knew it was gonna be really peaty before you even sipped it as the smell was so strong
