I have not yet I have been hunting down them but it turns out they have not got released in Canada yet. Manitoba was suppose to have them yesterday but no luck, as I had a friend check it out for me. Alberta should have them in a month or so and I think in the USA its being released at we speak. I need a couple bottle for sure but the price here will likely be around $150 mark (Unconfirmed but judging by other releases) You guys have all first crack. might have to order some if I get to nervous here.

Reason old chap, I recently tried the Lagavulin 16y and found the peat to be a little too close to antiseptic for my taste. My problem is that I loooooved the smokiness. So my question, what direction now? I love the light highland stuff and the fruity sherry cask finished stuff but my experience ends there. Could you tell me what to avoid for peatyness (or at least TCP) and what to try for smokiness??

With a lot of the heavy peated whiskies you get a big hit of Iodine as well, it is an acquired taste.

The heavy peated whisky finished in sherry casks may be more your thing, it takes the sharp edge off and adds a little sweetness.

If you get a chance try the Lagavulin Distillers Edition, this is finished in Pedro Xim?nez Sherry casks in is glorious and smooth (with the peat).

Less iodine but brine. Iodine is a very distinct and piercing flavour. The brine is more iconic in something like Talisker as it's distilled and batched low temperatures near the seaside.

Islay whiskies are commonly referred to as having iodine characteristics (a lot by the Distilleries when I visited last year).

Butters, as mentioned in my previous post, the Distillers Edition Lagavulin is finished in Pedro Xim?nez Sherry casks and is in my view one of the finest whiskies out there. Also Bowmore Darkest is a sherry influenced expression using Olo Roso casks but minimal peat.
A lot of the Distillers Editions have had a sweet finish, some a sweet wine cask (Moscatel) like the Caol Ila Distillers.

It was just mentioned for Tommy as the fact he liked the 'smoke' but not the general taste of the standard Lagavulin the Distillers is a completely different animal.

Hey Tommy, if you like the highland 12 I suggest the Bowmore 12, Talisker 10 (I find this to be abit sweet and salty smoke or a laddie classic but I find it not to be much smoke(I'm not super taster I drink what I like and its either yay or nay) both cheap and good. Of course they're the ones already suggested that are finished in a cask of sweeter juice. Unfortunately I stick to smokey and peaty scotches be it light or rich I love them all.

No not at all, any bottles coming to Canada go direct to Restaurants or the few dozen cases that make it to store get taking by employees before they even unpack them. So you almost always have to head Stateside to hunt.
