You can do ALOT worse than to stick with Scot/Japanese whiskies.

Found Yamazaki to be similar to some lowland whiskies, didn't get raisins personally, but definitely some fruits in there

There are a few larger supermarkets that stocks Yamazaki here in uk, not sure about Canada though.

    Good luck in searching Reason.

    • I'm a big fan of Hibiki and Yamazaki. Quite common in SE Asia and a lot cheaper than Scottish single malts. Find they go will with H Upmanns and R y J's

I do like a whisky, but I'm worried of wasting a lot of money on ones I don't like. I like Highland Park, Glenlivet, Glenmorange; not a fan of the really peaty ones. Also don't mind a Jamesons as well.

      • I bought this for my Christmas gift to myself.

It's beautiful but when I bought it I was trying to replicate this unknown 25yo sherry Speyside I have. It's almost gone and I simply love it. The above is delicious but it's a PX aged whisky, what I'm after is a sherry like grandma drinks, amontillado I think? Very sherryish taste. So does anyone know of a whisky aged in that kind of sherry wood with a powerful sherry taste?
I really need to get sampling but that's hard when you don't know where to start. I don't want this bottle to run out!!!!
I need a star track replicator.

That's a fine whisky you've got there. Well aged too!

Have you ever tried an Ardbeg whisky, they are something to REALLY enjoy!!

          • No I haven't. Tbh I have more high end stuff than I need at the moment. I'm literally just looking to find an amontillado tasting sherry whisky.

Thanks, I know a few places outside of Canada that have it every now and then. Might be time to pull the trigger.

It may take a little effort, but it will be worth it, they have managed to make their own style but still make you think you're tasting something that's quality!

                            At your own risk yes.

But don't be surprised if it all goes missing. Including your hard earned!

                            • Stopped at a new vino place by my house and stumbled on these a lucky find as there has not been any in the city for a long time. Must of got a couple case in. Anyone's thought on these would be appreciated.
