Yes, from John Lewis, got some gift card credit left over from my wedding. They have been in the freezer for 24hrs and not impressed with the results, can't really notice very much difference. Will investigate.

I like a rum and coke with a slice of lime every now and then, had lots of it when I got married in Mauritius last year, but have never actually bought any for home.

Thanks, I was so lost when I was looking as their was too many options, but the consensus on this thread was for Havana Club.

Have you had Kraken dark rum? To be honest I just fell in love the bottle and the logo. [emoji2]

The especial is a good flavourful all rounder, good for sipping with (or without) ice. Some would disagree but it's not too special that it feels wrong to have with a mixer, IMO.
The kraken is nice too, I have only had it neat with ice though. You are right the bottle is very different!

I was planning on cutting it with a bit of coke, glad it wouldn't be too much of a faux par.

Will try some neat as well at some point.

The havana club is good but I prefer santiago de cuba 12 year old it was recommended to me when I was in cuba and it's superb

The especial and reserva are good options to drink straight. 7 year is even better. 3 anos is better than I expected but quite aniseedy.

Best rum for sipping is El Dorado 15 [emoji4]

gave the santiago to a mate and kept the havana

Last time I was in Cuba the guide told me the Santiago is what Cubans drink

I like the havana club 7 year but prefer the santiago de cuba 12 year you can drink it straight and perfect for cigars

I'm sure the Santiago is made in the Bacardi factory. When we last went to Cuba in June, our guide told us that the Bacardi family had fallen out with the Cuban authorities & moved their production facilities out to South America. Even though it still says 'Made in Cuba' on the bottles.
I tried the Santiago 15 yr old, which was quite smooth.

Yeah I was told this to Wayne that santiago de cuba and canaye rum where made in the bacardi factory plus I was told it was made to compliment a good cigar which it does.
