Buffalo Trace 40% abv & Four Roses 40% abv

Buffalo is brilliant for the price! Roses is one I keep meaning to buy and never get round to.

Buffalo trace

Soft and a fruity flavour of dried fruits particularly apricots with balanced vanilla oak , light and delicate in style with a good finish of orange peels and apricots

Four roses slightly fragrant on the nose less rounded and slightly harsher than the buffalo and slightly astringent , hints of almonds and spice but less balance between the prominent flavours and the vanilla oak

Overall I prefer the buffalo 4/5it has better integration of fruits and oak with a soft rounded finish

The four roses I would prefer with a touch of ice and ginger beer would make a nice rosey mule with the spice of the bourbon and the ginger 3/5

Interesting - I find the Buffalo Trace harsher than the Four Roses, but I'm beginning to suspect that I have a bad bottle.

I suspect so too, I have never thought of a Buffalo Trace as harsh in the slightest. It's always been sweet and rounded to me.
