Thanks for all the replies gents, plenty of enthusiasm on the subject! As I said, all I'm really after is something to put in a cafetiere at the moment, I'm a long way from shelling out for any other equipment! Ideally a sampler pack would be close to ideal. I've seen a few but it involves ordering over a kilo of coffee which would take me so long to get through the last packs would be well past their best.

in that case, check out the taylor's, cafe direct and tesco's finest range....... all available from, well, tescos, and other supermarkets!! ?3 a bag, hard to beat!! also, i use one of these rather than a cafetiere, saves me wasting/ making too much coffee!! i take it to work with me, have decent coffee rather than instant:Originally posted by big bopper View PostThanks for all the replies gents, plenty of enthusiasm on the subject! hey peejay,
i wasn't much of a coffee drinker up till about 4-5 years ago!! in fact i hated the stuff!! one day i tried a cappuccino in a cafe, and i just 'got it'!! been hooked ever since!! my folks used to buy the cheapest, nastiest instant coffee available (like red mountain), reckon that's why i never like it!! like most things, i started buying the 'good stuff'...... chalk and cheese as they say!!

Over night in the fridge, I put it in at about 9pm and when I get up its ready for warming.Originally posted by EdBlackadder View PostI haven't tried cold extracted coffee, if I get bored later I might give it a go. I do like to cold extract tea for iced tea, though. How long do you leave it, usually?
@PeeJay strangely, the stronger the coffee the more well rounded the flavours often are. Have you ever had Greek/Turkish coffee? Perhaps try at the strong end and work back.... I know it sounds strange but just a thought.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I really like Turkish roasted coffee in the filter machine. You get the distinct Turkish coffee profile but in a normal filter cup.Originally posted by Simon BolivarLittle medical correction there Steve, you will surely die...but not from smoking these

I will bring it tomorrow.Originally posted by cigarmo View PostAll this talk of Turkish coffee, made me want some, don't have any so had a twinings oriental tea apparently it is suppose to taste of strawberrys and roses. It actually tasted like warm water
John, yeah there is a bit of a trick to drinking the top layers and leaving the grounds behind. But once you get the hang of it it's bloody good coffee.Originally posted by PeeJay View PostI tried Turkish coffee once and spent the next few hours picking the grounds out of my teeth.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

Isn't Turkish coffee just any Bean/Roast that's been ground to a super fine consistency?Originally posted by monkey66 View PostI really like Turkish roasted coffee in the filter machine.
