It's a decent brandy so will pair well with many cigars, if your looking at the V.S please please please shop around and try to get V.S.O.P it can often be found at similar money and is better.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

Much better.
I think I have a low brandy tolerance level though - it has to be really good for me to enjoy it. Hine VSOP is entry level for me, and almost as good as many XO Cognacs, but for much less money. Excellent with a cigar too - personally slightly milder cigars work well for me with a brandy (though it's a relatively unusual pairing for me - mainly as I have plenty of drinks I prefer to brandy).

Otard VS is better as well for probably the cheapest price. i go for this as a staple.
getting onto other good cognacs though, i have Martell and Camus as much better alternatives to the standard "Big Three" cognacs out there. I'd choose a Camus VS over Hennessey VSOP or XO black any day. something about Camus is absurdly brilliant (get it!? )Originally posted by ValeTudoGuyMarc's a Fat Molly

I have never tried Otard or Camus, but I will seek them out now.
I am drinking Martell VSOP as I type and I enjoy it often, Hennesy fine de cognac is another favorite of mine as it Remy Martin VSOP.
Remy Martin coeur de cognac is one I am looking forward to trying. HINE is something I have only dabbled with and never actually bought a bottle but will be doing this spring most likely.
Remy XO is the finest brandy I have drunk... Possibly the finest spirit, although it's in another price league all together.
I also hear good things of Torres Jaime and Lepanto. Spanish brandy is something else I will be delving into this coming year.Licky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14

I had a bottle of Vecchia Romagna Italian Brandy over xmas....not sure it's on the same level as some you are mentioning but I did enjoy it. Also tried another Italian one called stock....not as good. On the plane back tried a mini bottle of Soberano...Spanish....that was quite nice.
I pair courvoisier and cigars occasionally...although I think I've only paired with NC's....usually have rum with a nice Cuban.
Picked up a few old mini bottles of rum dating back to the 70's in Italy....will post pics later."Gentlemen, you may smoke."

it's a real shame because we have NO martells at our provincial liquor store. and the only camus we have is elegance XO.... which i still prefer anything less because of the price point. geez do i wish i had some martell again.... no matter how much i scrape together, it's damn near impossible to get martell anything in toronto

Re price in France.... Well known brands are similar to the UK, unbranded and local alcoholic products can be astonishingly cheap for very very good qualityLicky Licky before Sticky Sticky. - Puff Scotty 22/03/14
