The missus brought me home an Asahi black beer to help with the 10+ hours of revision I'm doing daily at the minute! Wouldn't be strong enough for the ale drinkers here, but really easy drinking and helped take my mind off work!
Ah Little Sweetpea! All ales are strong enough with a wee dram...
guinness is simply guinness!! i can't even begin to describe it's taste other than 'heavenly'!! as rob ayala says in the FoH review of h upmann connie 1's, they were 'creamy, just like a glass of guinness'!! i definitely don't get no smokey flavours off it!!
anyhoo, i'll be enjoying some tonight........

Ah seee, whenever someone says it goes good with a cigar, my mind goes to peat and Smokey. that's why I assumed you mean Guinness black goes good with a cigar, because it MIGHT'VE been peaty and Smokey.
Sorry for that confusion there! And enjoy your pint today ........ Or 4,
I have a guinness surger for home, the special cans are a pain to get hold of but taste so much better than the normal widget cans.
Best Guinness I had was at the top of the Guinness tower in the museum

Hey Matty...when your out & about see if you can find any of the FES bottlings for Guinness..superb!
Couple of great ones are the Nigerian (lager) FES & the Lion Stout in Sri Lanka @ 8.8% is the dogs nuts...
Not a bad drop to be had in Malta either...& you get a free hat when you tour the brewery!!! Malta Guinness 001.jpg
8.8% would put me on my back after a pint :-) I tried the guinness red a few years back but wasnt that impressed with it. My local micro brewery do an amazing porter and a damson porter which is excellent :-)

I love Guinness but rarely drink it at home much preferring it out of a pump in a decent pub .... or even a scruffy pub if need be!
hey arf, i've had guinness all over ireland (even direct from st james' gate in dublin), and some say it doesn't travel!! best i've ever had? bottles of 'draught' in new jersey at my uncle's house....... searched high and low for them, found them at a speciality booze shop here in belfast!! check them out.....
Last time I was in Shangers I got taken to a " English Pub"...having tried several pints of piss I declared "I'd kill" for a pint of Guinness...
lo & behold 20 minutes later the bar owner turned up with 6 bottles of Guinness...wow I thought great..
We cracked open two bottles in an instant & poured them into a pint glass....
Feck...it was awful!!!
On checking the bottles they were from 2002..gone west as they say...
Still no worries...I glugged them..a)..out of politeness to my host..b)'cos it was still better than the piss from the pumps & c) I hadn't eaten in 3 days....
I do like a Guinness...

Best Ever Ever...Irish bar near San Diego...from the tap at 6%....thought I was in heaven!!! & as you know the International Bar in Dublin is one of my fave watering holes......
Yep, have had some of that Punk IPA, IIt's a good beer. I think they are from Edinburgh and make most of their beers in casks. Any Saltaire, salamander, Pictish would do me proud.

If you enjoy Punk, try the Hardcore Punk IPA, at around 9%vol is a bit ok.
