A Good Lowland Malt?

So the other day I realised I've never owned a lowland Scotch at all...

What would be a nice Lowland Malt that isn't peaty at all.
I'd like something that's complex and would change quite a lot with some added water.
Preferably below 120 Dollars (Under 80 Quid).

Auchentoshan 3 Wood isn't too expensive, although you could go for a Oloroso Sherry, but I don't know how much that would cost in Canada.

Bladnoch can be good if you can get it or Rosebank but that can be quite tough to get hold of.

Glenkinchie is likely to be quite widely available too and the distillers edition is good.

Is the auchentoshan complex enough though? I remember that one not lasting on the palate as long as other malts. We actually don't have a lowland oloroso here. Best is a Macallan for 250 dollars.

The Gordon and MacPhail Bladnoch seems like a good option too, at around 140 dollars. It's a "connoisseur's choice". But i alwasy thought those words together just means: lazy advertisement.
Also, you're right about the rosebank. That thing's 250 dollars here...... Maybe some other day.

There is more than one Glenkinchie, if you have a choice pick the Distillers Edition over the standard bottling. It is one of the Classic Six from Diageo
so gets planty of marketing. I'm going to the Distillery on Friday to tour and taste it.

G&M are a good independant bottler based in Elgin who have a number of brand labels. Connoisseurs Choice is just one of them, their bottles are usually bottled at 40% and are well priced in the UK.
Their bottles are usually reasonably well respected for what they are.

If you can get a distillery Bladnoch all the better, particularly a cask strength one then you can add water to taste.

And yea, I know a decent amount of the others. I went to my liquor store and they had sections dedicated to the regions. Lowland malts was not even given its own section. It feels like Cambeltown all over again.....

ANd over here in canada have a provincial mandated liquor store. So there actually is only one glenkinchie..... The only distillers edition here (of the 6 classic malts) now is the Cragganmore. Which i definitely will pick up soon before they're gone again.
Also, enjoy your visit! I wish i lived close to enough stilleries that I could just hope in my car and visit them when i find the time.

Ended up spending 55CAD (~35GBP?) on a bottle of Auchentoshan 12. Without a doubt, best single malt i've ever had below 60 dollars.

Can't you buy and get your Whisky sent from Scotland.

Nah, I could just go to the duty on the US-CA border. 2 trips annually should satisfy my palate

Really? Geez I'm outta touch...... Which one went out? Either glengyn, springbank, or longbow? Those were my known stills I've tried . Methinks the popular ones too.
