I have to say I did enjoy this I could drink it neat, but decided to make a ling drink out of it. It went really well with lemonade. 😄

Had it straight over ice with a trinidad reyes. A great combo and the whiskey was really good, I like something a bit sweeter with my smokes

I'm not a big fan of this...it's so sweet!! I have recommended it as an after dinner tipple to newbies to whiskey though, and it seems to go down quite well (I'm a part time bartender/mixologist). Been trying to come up with a cocktail for our summer menu based around this drink and ginger, but nothing outstanding yet (any suggestions appreciated!). I do like a sweeter bourbon, but I'd much rather stick to my choice of drink with my cigars...a well made Old Fashioned!

I had some 2 nights ago, i generally drink it on the rocks but i tried it with a good slice of fresh lemon on ice, and it was superb imo.... so i'd say something along the lines of citrus may do the trick it kind of tones down the sweetness in the drink, that can sometimes be overpowering...

I did try it in a hot toddy with a little extra lemon and it worked fairly well...just not really a summer drink! Perhaps using it in a whiskey sour, shaken with a little ginger julienne? Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes.

Noting your tastebuds (from that comment alone) I'd recommend the Dalmore 12YO. I'm in Ontario so that doesn't exist here, but if you can find it where you are (is only $40,$45), take a bottle.

It's not down my street, if I wanted a honey flavoured whisky (I don't) I would get some good local honey and mix it myself or go for Drambuie as at least the herbs add a further dimension to the powerful flavour honey has.
