what do you think of it monkey? i'm a big fan of the green spot, been wrestling with the thoughts of buying this....... something else always gets in the way!!! this may well be an xmas purchase.......
if memory serves me right, when i saw this a couple of months ago here in belfast, i nearly bought it! instead i bought red breast 12 year old cask strength for the same price (?65 i think)!!! it's definitely one of the best pot stilled whiskies IMO (yes, i tried a snifter of it, cost me ?8.50 a measure, the yellow spot i'm referring to)!!

Love it. Tried it when Andy Ryan brought a bottle over for the pre-H and F Summer party session in JJF. It was a great afternoon so I have been chasing a bottle ever since.
It is a sweet, smooth complex dram. Nothing like a Scotish malt to me. Far more between a really good aged bourbon (Pappy Van Winkles type) and a good rum (Goslings/Zacappa etc).
The green spot is great and probably far better value. Not sure the gap is that big. The yellow has an extra dimension of complexity over the green.
NB - all of these tasting notes are caviated with the consideration that they are from my memory while drinking

as it's stated in the video, unusually for yellow spot, it's not finished off in sherry, bourbon or malaga casks....... it spends the whole of it's 12 years in said casks, butts and barrells, then blended/ mixed i guess!!! this is what makes it unique, some whiskies only spend a couple of years to get the flavour!!!
green spot is 8 year old pot stilled whiskey with 25% sherry finish....... another fantastic whiskey!!! irish pot stilled whiskey, indeed irish whiskey itself, is a different beast entirely to scotch!!!
Well done finding a bottle! It has sold out everywhere here, though Mitchell's might have a couple left. There are only 500 cases made a year. I've been hearing rumours that they've held a few cases back to go with a launch of another 'spot' next year. There was originally Green, Yellow, Red and Blue spot. Only the Green was in continuous production until the launch of the Yellow back in may this year. The spot colours apparently to do with markings on the casks. Yellow spot is very very good. Always been a fan of the Green. We had a tasting of that with Nino in Cuba at the Partagas festival last year.
That was a fun afternoon in fox before the H & F party. Rob, Stuart, David and and I stumbled up the street to see an Oliver Comerford exhibition in the John Martin gallery. We were all steaming.
Some good pot stills coming out in the last few years. Powers Johns Lane is very good.
Loved the video by the way! Quite a few locations near my house. Sweny's chemist is 200 yards away, as is Toner's pub. For some useless information, that was the pub used in the Irish bar scenes in the Sergio Leone film 'A Fistfull of Dynamite'.
hey monkey....... ever since i saw this thread and researched it, i've tortured myself into buying it!!! just hit up the whiskey exchange for the yellow spot and the green spot (it's been thin on the ground over here since the summer)!!! can't wait to get my hands on them.......

agree 100% with you on this ryan, irish pot stilled is my favourite tipple!!! red breast is my absolute fav...... as i said, i passed up on the yellow spot in august to buy the red breast 12yr old cask strength, which is stunning, as is the 15 year old!!! i also bought a bottle of powers 'john's lane 12 yr old' during the summer and put it away for xmas!!! it's as well i did, cos i've never saw it again!!!
