For my next Scotch purchase I have an opportunity to buy The Big Peat which is difficult to come buy or the Laphroaig Quater Cask which is the same price. Any opinions ?
Or just buy them both
I love Big Peat but it isn't for the faint hearted. There are times when a smooth whisky just wont do, it has to be an assault on the taste buds. I feel a little brand loyalty to Big Peat too as I am acquainted with the producer. The Christmas Special cask Strength bottle was amazing.
I also love Quarter Cask. It has as much flavour but feels a little more "finished" to me.
If push came to shove I'd go Quarter Cask (I always have a bottle on the go) but if I could have both then I would.
I'm surprised they are at the same price point though. Big Peat was around the ?36 a bottle mark and Quarter Cast ?30 last time I bought them.
Although I have tasted both. I've not owned a bottle of either. Though SS had or has a bottle of QCL and my son had a bottle of BP from which they both shared a nip or two with me, hic
thanks for the suggestions gentlemen, but unfortunately Leapfrog is not available in Quebec or Ontario. I'll go with the big peat, can't really cut into mycigar budget.
