There is a fantastic small batch rum that has won a ton of awards over the last couple of years. Its called Maggie's Farm and its produced in the U.S. It's definitely worth a try.

You can order 2 types of Maggie's Farm rum from a distributor at http://cellar.com/search.aspx?search_text=maggie%27s+ if you live in the US and you don't live in Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia.
Not sure about international sales though. Great rum if you can get it.
