Was able to get hold of a tin of this now-discontinued blend, the BB standing for Baby's Bottom in reference to the smoothness of the smoke. A blend of Virgina and Latakia and orientals its an English blend and my second english blend to try......... So Tin note it smells of smoked wood chppings with just the slightest hit of sweetness ending on the smell with a freshness to it that at first Ic couldn't quite place until my 7th inhale of the tin..... it's aniseed, like a black jack smell mixed with smoked wood chips the tin note is fairly strong.
Packs easy and lights only after a few lights not at all that fussy, and bam its smokey but nowhere near what the tin note suggests, then it hits you that aniseed taste the smoke nice and chewey a retrohale brings forward a few bits of spice, and as the bowl progresses the spice presents itself without the need to retro, however doing the retro as you progress gives you more of the aniseed and spice combo with the woody smoked chips always there with just a dash and I mean dash of sweetness and I'm talking natural virgina sweetness. This altogether creates an incredibly cool and smooth smoke, which is deliciously savoury smokey with that aniseed and spice with that dash of sweetness.
No bite even if you push this, pushing it will make the spice more pronounced but thats about it. A banger of an all-day smoke, easy to sit with this and just contemplate, I cant recommend this enough which is annoying as you will need to find someone who bought loads of this back when it was being made, I'm not sure if there is a current equivalent to this though I'm told EMP is fairly close (EMP Early Morning Pipe is on my list so I will be able to compare once I get some) The Mrs always inspects my office after trying a new blend to tell me yay or nay as being allowed to be used.
It was a Yay from her she is a big fan of Aniseed and the smell wood chips mixed with that smelt pleasant to her, but this will vary from person to person. Honestly, its a 4.3 star out of 5 Im told there maybe better out there but taste is personal and I may revise that score upwards in the future its a shame its not made anymore, aftertaste is like you sucked on smoked black jacks. If you have any of this or no so one who does try it, its a superb smoke an excellent English blend
