So first time getting hold of a Germains blend and something that was recommended as a good potential Autumn Winter type blend.
So firstly it says flake its really broken flake to be perfectly honest with you though I'm told it tends to vary from tin to tin or pouch to pouch depending on the size in which you purchased it (I imagine it will be pouch as its mostly the loose stuff that's available) Anyway tin note, its a musty campfire smokiness with just a hint of sweetness to the air and I do mean hint of sweetness its mostly just as musty campfire smokiness.
Wasnt too moist at all, perfect in fact packed into my small churchwardens bowl very nicely, first light and a tamp followed by the main light up, and bam first just a nice woody campfire like aroma and taste and as it billowed out of my mouth I was hit by an incredible saltiness sour ever so, evers so slightly sweetness oooh that's a bit different goit it going some more and then a few retrohale and ooooh a pepper kick but not white or black pepper but the sort of peeper kick you get from Ginger so slightly sweet which combining with that slatiness and the woody campfire leathery mustiness. Damn that's a tasty flavour, the slight sweetness is without question from the Virignas, and I know there is debate about the amount of Latakia in this and it seemingly is a supporting player. But since this is my first foray into a proper English I cant really comment more than this.
Bloody beautiful stuff, the room note is pleasant to tolerable according to the persons taste it can leave a slight smokey some might say cheese like smell, my wife thought it smelt like a campfire were a bit of vanilla root had been burned (like ever so slightly) No pictures as frankly I hadn't planned on smoking this today but felt like this past week had been that strained and just felt the need to light this up and give it a go.
I look forward to having this again, is this five stars I can't give it that but its certainly a four star blend very nice and more flavour than I was expecting
